On the north side of the fjord, famer Geir Arne collects us from the boat with the tractor and passenger trailer. The tour sneaks up the steep gravel track to where the landscape opens out and we visit the charming Eikemo farm accompanied by entertaining guiding. A second trip in the passenger hanger brings us to the Eikemo Mountain Farm with its historic houses, new barn, friendly goats, and lack of mobile phone coverage. A hike to Bjønndalen Valley is optional, which has fabulous views across the fjord to Langfoss Waterfall. Back at the farmhouse, the menu consists of sour cream porridge and locally produced cured meats from Åkrafjorden, followed by a coffee and a pastry. A fabulous experience!
Remember to take jogging shoes/hiking boots/boots, camera and dress according to the climate.
