Unique historical and natural experiences
In 2008 Haugesund and Haugaland chose as its main marketing profile the tradition based concept of  “Homeland of the Viking Kings”. When Norway was united as a kingdom for the first time, it was Harald Fairhair from Avaldsnes (10 min. from Haugesund) who established Norway’s first royal estate in this region. Norway was governed from this seat for a period of 500 years. By you will, Through products based on strong historical and authentic experiences one can really feel, when choosing to hold a conference in our region, the spirit of the Vikings . You are invited to “Inhale the Viking spirit”.

There is a wealth of natural experiences just waiting to be explored. The coastline is striking and the landscape in this region opens out towards the North Sea. In comparison, the fjords are more enclosed and intimate, offering picturesque and tranquil surroundings. Islands, mountains, waterfalls, glaciers and rivers make this region ‘complete’. This diversity of natural attractions is a special feature of our region, and all are within easy reach. We have products and suppliers for courses and conferences from all parts of the region.

Short distances to travel
