The term Landscape Park describes certain selected Norwegian landscapes which are considered as outstanding beautiful and preservable. The parks are however no museums. To develop these regions as attractive residential areas and travel destinations is the motivation for the locals working there.
Culture and history of the region are influencing the production of local products. To tell the visitors and guests about the local stories, is part of the concept.
But farmers do not only produce grass in the parks, but pasturing with sheep and cattle is an important business in the fjords, producing food and open landscape. Fish farming, tourism and horticulture are important sources of income. The unique landscape in the fjords gets maintained sustainable through active agriculture, a necessary tool, and at the same time the most important objective of the landscape parks.
